WWE had hyped Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar as the greatest WrestleMania match ever. Many felt that the fight failed to deliver on the hype. The photos of Reigns’ injured arm that surfaced online afterward made people believe that the ending may have not gone as planned.
On Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast (H/t Wrestlingnews.co), wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer debunked these rumors. He said that claims of Reigns’ injury weren’t true. The entire match, including the ending was how things were planned. He called it a ‘Brock Lesnar match’:
‘That’s not even true, that was the match. That was the match that was laid out.’ Meltzer added, ‘That’s the nature of the way they put Lesnar matches together which is boom boom boom, big move big move’¦it was not a bad match by any means. It was a Brock Lesnar match, no different from many others.’
The Beast is seemingly done with Roman Reigns for the moment after his WrestleMania loss. A new challenger is yet to emerge for the Tribal Chief. WWE is still figuring out the plans for the Undisputed championship. The next WWE PPV in WrestleMania Backlash is still almost a month away and the title picture should get clearer by then.
