Kurt Angle thinks unifying the WWE and Universal championship could lead to more firings.

WWE has been in hot water with fans over the dozens of talents they have released in the past couple of years. Now they are getting ready to unify the two world championships at WrestleMania 38. WWE champion Brock Lesnar will face Universal champion Roman Reigns in a winner takes all match at the show.

On his podcast, Angle noted that he is of the old-school mentality. He thinks that one promotion should have only one championship. On the same time, Kurt Angle admitted that having one unified championship could lead to less wrestlers being employed by Vince McMahon:

‘I’m old school, I think it should be one championship for one promotion. The only downfall to that, having one championship, is you’re going to hire less wrestlers. Less wrestlers would be employed and more wrestlers would end up getting fired because there’s too many spots, having only one title and one brand.”

The former Olympian said that he likes the current split brand setup because it means more jobs and opportunities for talents. He also mentioned that he enjoyed being the world champion during his reign.
