WWE reportedly wants to make one of their top female Superstars ‘like Brock Lesnar,’ in that she is used as a special attraction performer.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer claimed that the company is looking to build Ronda Rousey as the Lesnar of the Women’s division.
“No, the idea is to get her to be a heel. The idea is to get her to be a heel. Here’s the thing. The idea for Ronda Rousey actually is to get her to be what she was before which is to break out of the pack, as a mainline woman Superstar” Meltzer claimed on the podcast.
“Not just a woman on the roster who is below [Bianca] Belair and all that, which she kind of was becoming” Meltzer added.
“They want to get her back to ’˜special attraction, big Brock Lesnar star'” Meltzer would conclude, discussing the potential of Rousey.
Ronda Rousey – Brock Lesnar
It certainly makes sense that the company would want to work more on capitalising on the crossover appeal of Rousey, as she was a huge star in UFC.
This does beg the question though, is she already ‘just another body’ on the roster? Would Ronda being built up again really make a big deal at the box office and on PPV? That remains to be seen.
