Cody Rhodes looks set to have a sensational WrestleMania XL match, if a recent report from Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated is to be believed.
Barrasso claimed in his latest report for SI that the plans have WrestleMania have significantly changed, with Rhodes not now likely to “finish the story” or main event against Roman Reigns.
“Where does this leave Cody Rhodes? Multiple sources close to WWE Head of Creative Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque have indicated that Rhodes will not headline this year’s event, nor will he ‘finish his story’ at WrestleMania. But there is still a new chapter to write with a marquee matchup to be had… against CM Punk” Barrasso reported.
WWE News: CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes WrestleMania XL
If this does indeed end up being the slot for Rhodes, then it certainly changes up the landscape of the overall storytelling, as many believed Punk would be winning the Royal Rumble this week.
The prospect of Punk vs Cody Rhodes is intriguing, and for me it’s actually a better match for Cody to have rather than face Roman again this year.
With Cody and Punk seemingly now locked in, that means we will get The Rock vs Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania XL Night 2 main event.
