Mercedes Mone potentially leaving New Japan

Former WWE Superstar Mercedes Mone/Sasha Banks could be potentially leaving New Japan in the near future, according to reports.

Writing in the lastest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer claimed that Mone is not currently contracted for any further dates with the company past April 23rd 2023.

“As of right now, Mercedes Mone has no dates left with Bushiroad after the 4/23 Yokohama Arena show”, Meltzer began in the weekly publication.

“Unless that changes, logic would say she would drop the IWGP title to Mayu Iwatani at that show. If Mone wins, it would mean she’s reached an agreement for a longer deal,” he added.

Mercedes Mone NJPW Contract Rumors

It’s worth noting that this is the original contract that Mone signed with the company for a short-term amount of dates, so she may well get an extension.

By all indications, Mone is not likely to be heading back to WWE anytime soon, but if Triple H is still in charge of creative following WrestleMania, then it’s far more likely than if Vince McMahon is still in charge.
