Cody Rhodes saying banned words in WWE is part of his character

Cody Rhodes had some interesting choice of words during this week’s episode of WWE RAW, and apparently, that is part of his new on-screen character.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Cody using ‘banned’ phrasing in WWE such as “belt” or “wrestler” will be part of his presentation going forward.

“This is all scripted. His gimmick, apparently, is that he gets to say the words that nobody else gets to say and gets corrected” Meltzer revealed on the podcast.

Cody Rhodes WWE Banned Words

It was a great segment to start this week’s episode of WWE RAW, seeing both The Miz and Cody Rhodes trade comments back and forth.

As Meltzer noted, Miz corrected Rhodes on several occasions, noting how in WWE performers are Superstars and not Wrestlers.

The Miz also corrected the American Nightmare by saying that he should be saying titles rather than belts, as belts hold your pants up.

So far, WWE seems to be getting the presentation of Cody right. Hopefully, the company will not deviate too much going forward and we’ll see more of this AEW-styled American Nightmare.
