Massive gimmick match rumored for WWE Royal Rumble

A massive gimmick match is being rumored for the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble event, with Roman Reigns reportedly facing Kevin Owens.

According to a new report/rumor from Xero News, the Hell in a Cell match concept is being considered for the WWE Unified Championship bout between the two men.

“Spoke to a source today ref the rumored HIAC match at Rumble. Hell in a Cell match would be been for Roman vs Owens but my source says a HIAC match is far from confirmed to be happening as of yet” the site claimed on Twitter.

“Will update if any more info. WON is also saying similar to this as well” the site concluded.

Hell in a Cell at the Royal Rumble?

It’s worth noting that this rumor from Xero News is just that, a rumor, as we are unable to verify whether or not the report is legitimate at this time.

Triple H revealed during the post-show WWE Survivor Series WarGames press conference that the company were looking to get rid of the gimmicky PPV events.

With Hell in a Cell likely no longer happening as a Premium Live Event, putting it on a major show like the Rumble would be a pretty cool move.

We’ll have to wait on this one, but it will likely be announced by WWE in the coming weeks if it is happening on the January card.
