Tony Khan finally comments on CM Punk’s return

Tony Khan has finally broken his silence on CM Punk’s return.

The Straight Edge star has been away from the wrestling world since the brawl out incident. We had heard all sorts of rumors about his status with AEW in the time of his absence as he healed from his triceps injury.

Tony Khan finally confirmed his status on Dynamite last week when he announced that Punk will be returning to the company at the debut episode of Collision on June 17. Confirming our report, the promotion has announced that Punk will be teaming up with FTR to face Bullet Club Gold and Samoa Joe on the show.

Tony Khan says CM Punk is very important

Tony Khan finally broke his months-long silence over the former AEW champion in an interview with Sports Illustrated. He claimed that CM Punk is very important to the fans and the company:

‘We haven’t seen CM Punk in a long time, since All Out last September. He looked great in his last match. To the fans, he’s very important. He’s very important to the company, too.”

Khan explained that the former WWE star has been a big draw throughout his career. According to him, the launch of the new show lined up perfectly with Punk’s recovery:

“He’s been a big draw for us and historically throughout his career, and the launch of the new show happens to line up with the schedule on his rehab of his triceps injury.
