The wrestling world is abuzz with speculation about the potential return of CM Punk to WWE. However, one prominent voice in the WWE community, NXT commentator Booker T, has expressed his scepticism about such a comeback.
Booker T, a respected figure in the wrestling community and a current NXT commentator, recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of CM Punk making a return to WWE.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, when asked about the potential comeback of Punk, Booker T was clear in his response, stating, “No. I don’t think so at all, I don’t see that happening.”
CM Punk: Past Comments on WWE
Booker T highlighted the importance of looking at CM Punk’s past statements about WWE. Over the last seven to eight years, Punk hasn’t had many positive things to say about the company.
Booker T emphasised the unpredictability of the wrestling industry and the importance of not burning bridges. He mentioned, “You never know when you might want to cross that bridge again.”
Drawing from his personal experience, Booker T shared that even though he had issues with WWE when he left, he never publicly criticised the company.
He believes that personal grievances should remain private and not be shared with the public.
CM Punk’s Relationship with Booker T
Delving into his personal interactions with Punk, Booker T described their relationship as professional. While they worked together on FOX’s WWE Backstage show, they maintained a cordial, albeit distant, relationship.
Booker T said, “Yeah, he was easy to work with, but he was kind of stand-off-ish.”
He emphasised that personal feelings should not interfere with professional responsibilities, drawing an analogy with workers at a fast-food restaurant.
The Uncertainty Surrounding Punk’s Future
It remains unclear whether CM Punk has any contractual obligations, such as a non-compete clause, following his departure from AEW.
The wrestling community will undoubtedly keep a close eye on any developments related to Punk’s potential return to WWE.
